Trying to communicate a feeling or a thought with a painting can be difficult or almost impossible for an artist, if the artist is  not clear or genuine about what it is that they are trying to achieve through their art, regardless of the chosen medium. Through my paintings I strive to communicate the ways i manage to survive  . The constant obstacles i go through as a human being   are some of the  primary subjects of my art and why I paint, the chaos, the uncertainty and the confusion make the type of work i create more humane and empathetic to other people  struggles.

 

Whenever I see  Paul Horiuchi’s mural in Seattle  I experience feelings of hope and excitement hoping  that one day our people will be recognized.  Anxiety about what that future looks like, excitement to create and to know more artists like myself who are going through the similar  experiences and create work for peace and equity  . I want to convey a  message that will make people think critically about issues involving my visual art .
